All-New 2022 Airstream Interstate X 4x4
The Airstream Interstate has been the #1 best-selling Class B diesel motorhome six years in a row. As Airstream continues to evolve and expand its Touring Coach lineup they have added a new model for 2022, the Interstate 24X. The Interstate 24X is designed for those who want to take their adventures further off the grid. With a 4×4 chassis, Lithium Batteries, Military Grade Solar Panels, and abundant gear storage, the Interstate X is ready for anything.
Chassis
Like the Airstream Interstate Grand Tour and Lounge, the 24X is also built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 Extended chassis with a 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel engine that packs 188 horsepower and 325 lbs. of torque.
The 24X has a 24′ 6″ exterior length and an exterior height of 10′ including the A/C. Unlike most other Class B vans that have 4WD as an option, the 24X comes standard with 4 wheel drive and All Terrain Tires. If you plan on towing, the 24X can tow up to 5,000 lbs. and comes standard with a hitch, 7-Pin Trailer Plug, and Brake Control Pre-wire.
Floor Plan
The flexible design of the 24X floor plan offers ample storage for your gear as well as an onboard bathroom, spacious kitchen, and convertible living area. There is currently only one interior decor option available called Red Rock. This decor has dark grey marine-grade Simtex-carbon seating with red accents throughout the coach.
Interior
Starting in the cab area, the Mercedes-Benz chassis is equipped with the latest safety features such as active lane keeping assist, active cruise control, rear- and side-view cameras, crosswind assist, and the MBUX Infotainment System. Soft Ultraleather cab seats feature a hexagonal pattern with red contrast stitching that provides a rugged yet refined look. The powered seats also offer many adjustments, making sure that every trip will be in comfort.
Behind the driver seat is an adjustable Lagun table that moves up and down or can be rotated 360 degrees, this makes for the perfect workstation while on the road. The table can also be used in the living space or outside the entry door.
Whether you are preparing breakfast before heading out in the morning or cooking dinner at the end of an adventurous day, the spacious kitchen has everything you need. A solid-surface countertop, deep stainless sink, 2-burner propane cooktop, microwave, and refrigerator.
The rear living space is what makes the 24X unique compared to other Class B vans. Aluminum Aircraft L-track Storage System on the walls, ceiling, and floor make it easy to secure all your gear. There is ample room for bikes, kayaks, fishing equipment, or any other gear you need to bring along for the adventure.
The rear seating are can be set up in multiple configurations. There is seating to bring up to 6 people along for the adventure, it can be converted into a lounge, or made into a 6’8″ X 5’8″ bed. No matter how you plan on using the 24X, it can easily be adapted to fit your needs.
The onboard Bathroom neatly houses a sink, shower, and toilet. Every inch of the space is designed to get wet, and every function is smart and efficient. The showerhead doubles as the faucet, a mirror that extends and swivels, and a waterproof toilet paper cover.
Exterior
One of the biggest things that differentiate the exterior of the 24X from other motorhomes is the Durable Coating on the bumpers and lower body panels. This coating is designed to protect the outside from scratches and damage when driving off-road or through narrow passages.
An Exterior Roof rack with LED Lighting Kit features a forward-facing roof-mounted light bar that provides additional light when off-road as well as LED lights on the curbside and rear of the coach. These lights can be very helpful when setting up camp after dark or to provide additional light when backing into a campsite at night.
Four low-profile, high-quality Resonado streamlined speakers are mounted above each of the rear doors that provide crystal clear audio while you gear up for your adventure.
A Powered Patio Awning provides ample shade on a hot summer day. The awning features red and grey accents that match the interior as well as built-in LED lighting. Overall the Interstate 24X is the perfect adventure van for those who are looking for a rugged 4×4 that has all the amenities you need.
