Northeast Guide to Fall Foliage

With cooler temperatures upon us and the leaves beginning to change, now is a great time to get out in your Airstream and enjoy the fall season. The northeast is a great place to catch the amazing red, orange, and golden leaves from September to mid-November. Below are a just a few of the many great spots to check out this fall.

Acadia National Park – Maine

First on our list is Acadia National Park located southwest of Bar Harbor on the coast of Maine. Fall is a great time to visit this National Park, the weather is crisp, the crowds are light, and the foliage is spectacular. The park offers 27 miles of historic motor roads and 158 miles of hiking trails. The best time to visit is early to mid-October when leaves are nearing their peak.

White Mountain National Forest – New Hampshire

The White Mountain National Forest is located in eastern New Hampshire and western Maine. Considered one of the best fall foliage viewing areas in the world, The Kancamagus Highway is a 34.5-mile drive of NH Route 112 that offers many scenic vistas along the way. The best time to visit is late September through mid-October.

Catskill Mountains – New York

Only two hours outside New York City are some of the most striking autumn drives in the Catskill Mountains. Popular routes include New York State Rt. 42, Rt.17, and Rt. 28. There are also may fall festivals and events going on throughout the region during the fall. The best time to visit is early to mid-October.

Green Mountain Byway – Vermont

The Green Mountain Byway winds through many of the charming towns and villages of Vermont along the northern Green Mountains. Traveling along the Byway you will see many Historic homes and farmsteads among the vibrant leaves. The peak time to visit is late-September to early October.
