The Interstate features Airstream's attention to engineering detail, including unibody chassis construction and a turbo-charged Mercedes diesel engine, resulting in greater fuel-efficiency. It's streamlined and comfortable. Reliable. Easy to park and easy to drive. The Interstate is truly an all-purpose touring coach, just right for today's energetic lifestyles. It easily adapts to both weekend trips and extended travel. Wherever you go with an Interstate, there you are. It's simple. For 2011 the Interstate will be built exclusively on the Mercedes-Benz 3500 Series Sprinter chassis. The Mercedes-Benz features a more powerful engine producing 188 hp and 325 lb.- ft. of torque up from 154 hp/280 ft. – lbs. of torque. The more powerful engine is also cleaner, by implementing Mercedes-Benz’s innovative Blue Tec SCR diesel Technology, once pollutant nitrogen oxides emissions are now converted into harmless nitrogen and water. Exhaust gasses flow through a catalytic converter, where they are mixed with a water-based diesel exhaust fluid then converted into harmless nitrogen and water.
